Camelids such as llamas and alpacas, originally from South America, can now be seen throughout the countryside. Kept in their home region primarily as pack animals and providers of wool, these animals are enjoying increasing popularity as hobby animals. The following should be heeded with regard to their feeding: as herbivores, camelids need high-quality crude fibre for healthy digestion. AGROBS ProKamelid Basis provides exactly that.
ProKamelid Basis is a cereal-free, molasses-free muesli for the natural, species-appropriate feeding of camelids. This feed has structure-rich crude fibre for healthy foreguts. Stimulates saliva production, keeps the microflora in the stomach in balance and stimulates rumination and foregut contraction.
With blossoms, leaves, root vegetables, sunflower seeds, linseed and nigella. ProKamelid Basis contains the bark of South American lapacho trees, a tasty and healthy treat for camelids.
ProKamelid Basis makes an ideal supplement to hay, straw and/or fresh pasture grass. It’s also suitable as a healthy enticement or reward, strengthening a relationship with humans. ProKamelid Basis is low is starch and sugar and can be used as a daily feed. We recommend adding a suitable mineral feed for a complete feed solution.

Feeding Recommendation
The daily recommended feed quantity depends on the quality and quantity of base feed (hey, straw, pasture grass), performance (maintenance, growth, breeding, trekking...) as well as the animal’s health and nutritional status.- new World camelids: 100–300 g/day
- old World Camelids: 500–800 g/day
AGROBS® recommends slow feeding. When switching feeds, we advise that the feed be moistened or soaked if needed, particularly for fast eaters, senior animals, animals with dental problems and those who don’t drink enough.
