Roughage or hay is the most important nutritional basis for horses. The intake of vegetable skeletal substances from roughage is essential for the physiological functioning and maintenance of numerous vital processes in the horse's body.

Our AlpenHeu comes from meadows in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. The high altitude, sufficient rainfall and calcareous soil provide ideal conditions for the growth of species-rich meadows with a high proportion of herbs.

The cutting time for the Alpine hay is determined by the vegetation and lies between the end of grass flowering and the start of seed formation. This achieves the high crude fibre content desired by horses. After harvesting, the meadow grasses and herbs are gently air-dried, mixed with sun-dried hay and dedusted. Regular inspections of the harvested areas are crucial for the good quality of our alpine hay. At least once a year, the plant population, the soil conditions and the maintenance of the land are checked. As our alpine hay is a natural product, its colour, structure and smell can vary. This variation does not constitute a quality defect.

The product is packaged in recyclable film.
